How to Enrol an Android Device

This guide walks you through enrolling an Android device into ZEM Cloud using the ZSync Android app.

Prerequisites

Before enrolling, ensure you have:

  • Supported OS: Android 11 or later (API level 30+)
  • Network Access: Wi-Fi connectivity during enrolment
  • ZEM Cloud Access: Admin access to generate enrolment QR codes

Enrolment Modes

ZSync Android supports two enrolment modes depending on your use case:

Device Owner Mode

Device Owner mode provides full device management capabilities. This is ideal for company-owned devices.

  • Full Control - Complete management of the entire device
  • All Actions Available - Reboot, lock, wipe, ring, push messages
  • Factory Reset Required - Device must be reset before enrolment
  • No Personal Use - Best suited for dedicated work devices

Work Profile Mode

Work Profile mode creates a separate managed profile on a personal device. This is ideal for BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) scenarios.

  • Separated Data - Work apps and data kept separate from personal
  • Limited Actions - Lock and ring available; reboot and wipe not permitted
