Mobile Settings
The Mobile tab configures settings for mobile device management using the ZSync app.
Accessing Mobile Settings
- Click Configuration Settings in the sidebar
- Select the Mobile tab
ZSync App
ZSync is the official mobile device management agent for ZEM Cloud. It enables secure enrolment, real-time monitoring, and remote management of iOS and Android devices.
Supported Platforms
- iOS - iPhone and iPad devices running iOS 15 or later
- Android - Devices running Android 11 (API 30) or later
Enrolling Devices
To enrol mobile devices, use the Enrol Endpoint wizard from the sidebar and select Mobile as the device type. See the Mobile Enrolment guides for detailed instructions.
Reporting Intervals
Configure how often mobile devices communicate with your ZEM Cloud server. These settings are embedded in the QR code and applied when devices enrol.
Heartbeat Interval
How often devices send basic status updates (online/offline status, battery level).
- 30 seconds - Most responsive, higher battery usage
- 60 seconds - Default, balanced
- 2 minutes - Reduced battery usage
- 5 minutes - Maximum battery savings
Full Report Interval
How often devices send complete reports including installed apps list and detailed device information.
- 30 minutes - Frequent updates
- 60 minutes - Default, balanced
- 2 hours - Reduced reporting
- 4 hours - Maximum battery savings
Queue Check Interval
How often devices check for pending remote actions (lock, ring, wipe, etc.).
- 30 seconds - Most responsive to commands
- 60 seconds - Default, balanced
- 2 minutes - Reduced polling
- 5 minutes - Maximum battery savings
Saving Interval Settings
- Adjust the intervals using the dropdown menus
- Click Save Intervals
- New devices will use these settings when enrolling
Android Enterprise
Connect your Google Cloud project to enable Managed Google Play app deployment for Android devices.
Enterprise Connection
When connected, you can:
- Browse and approve apps from Managed Google Play
- Create policies to define which apps to install
- Push apps to managed devices automatically
Connecting to Google Cloud
Follow the setup wizard to connect your Google Cloud project. You'll need:
- A Google Cloud project with Android Management API enabled
- Administrator access to create service accounts
- Your organisation's Google Workspace domain (if applicable)
Managing Apps
Once connected, use the Managed Play Store button to browse and approve apps for your organisation. Approved apps can then be pushed to devices through policies.
Apple MDM
Configure Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) for iOS device management.
Why APNS is Required
Due to iOS restrictions, devices cannot poll for commands in the background. APNS allows ZEM Cloud to wake devices instantly when remote actions are queued.
Setting Up APNS
- Generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) in ZEM Cloud
- Upload the CSR to Apple's Push Certificate Portal
- Download the resulting certificate
- Upload the certificate to ZEM Cloud
Without APNS
If APNS is not configured, iOS devices will only receive commands when the user manually opens the ZSync app and taps "Sync Now".
Best Practices
- Configure APNS for iOS devices to ensure responsive remote management
- Use balanced reporting intervals (60 seconds) for most deployments
- Connect Android Enterprise for app management capabilities
- Test settings with a few devices before rolling out to your fleet
