Notification Settings
The Notifications tab allows you to configure alerts and summaries that keep you informed about your managed endpoints.
Accessing Notification Settings
- Click Configuration Settings in the sidebar
- Select the Notifications tab
Available Notifications
Each notification type can be enabled independently and configured to use Email, Slack, or both delivery methods.
Offline Alerts
Receive alerts when endpoints go offline for more than 1 hour. One alert is sent per host until it comes back online.
- Helps identify connectivity issues quickly
- Prevents alert fatigue by limiting to one notification per offline event
- Automatically clears when the endpoint reconnects
Summaries
Receive periodic summary reports including endpoint status and activity metrics.
Summary reports include:
- Status Cards - Online, offline, troubled, and reboot required counts
- Activity Metrics - Updates installed, reboots performed, endpoints enrolled/removed
Frequency options:
- Daily - Sent once per day at your chosen time
- Weekly - Sent once per week
- Monthly - Sent once per month
Reboot Scheduled
Receive notifications when an endpoint has a scheduled reboot pending, including the client name and scheduled reboot time.
Endpoint Removed
Receive notifications when an endpoint is removed from ZEM Cloud, including:
- Which endpoint was removed
- Who removed it
- When it was removed
Endpoint Enrolled
Receive notifications when a new endpoint is enrolled, including endpoint details and enrolment time.
Console Setting Reverted
Receive notifications when a console setting has been reverted through Console Audit, including:
- What setting was reverted
- Before and after values
- Who reverted it
- When it was reverted
Console Audit Log Error
Receive notifications when errors are detected in the console audit log.
Configuring Notifications
Enabling a Notification
- Find the notification type you want to enable
- Toggle the switch to enable it
- Select your preferred delivery method(s) - Email, Slack, or both
- Configure any additional options (such as frequency for summaries)
- Click Save Notification Settings
Delivery Methods
Each notification can be sent via:
- Email - Requires Email Configuration to be set up
- Slack - Requires Slack Configuration with a webhook URL
You can enable both methods for redundancy or use different methods for different notification types.
Email Configuration
Configure SMTP settings for sending email notifications.
SMTP Settings
- SMTP Server - Your outgoing mail server hostname
- SMTP Port - Server port (typically 587 for TLS, 465 for SSL)
- Username - SMTP authentication username
- Password - SMTP authentication password
- From Address - The email address notifications are sent from
- From Name - The display name for sent emails
- Recipient Address - Where notifications should be delivered
Testing Email
After configuring your SMTP settings, use the Send Test Email button to verify your configuration is working correctly.
Slack Configuration
Configure Slack integration for receiving notifications in your workspace.
Setting Up Slack Webhooks
- Go to your Slack workspace's Apps settings
- Create a new Incoming Webhook
- Choose the channel for notifications
- Copy the Webhook URL
- Paste the URL into ZEM Cloud's Slack Configuration
Testing Slack
Use the Send Test Message button to verify your Slack webhook is configured correctly.
Best Practices
- Enable Offline Alerts to catch connectivity issues early
- Use weekly or daily summaries to stay informed without notification overload
- Configure both Email and Slack for critical alerts as backup
- Test your notification configuration after setup
- Review notification settings periodically to ensure they match your needs
