Configuration Settings
The Configuration Settings page allows you to customise your ZEM Cloud instance and manage agent scripts.
Accessing Configuration Settings
Click Configuration Settings in the sidebar. This section is only available to users with appropriate permissions.
Settings Sections
General
Basic instance configuration:
- Instance Name - Your ZEM Cloud instance name
- Organisation - Your organisation name
- Timezone - Default timezone for reports and scheduling
Agents
View and manage agent scripts for each platform:
- Ubuntu/Debian - Bash agent scripts
- Arch Linux - Bash agent scripts
- Fedora - Bash agent scripts
- macOS - Bash agent scripts
- Windows - PowerShell agent scripts
Each platform section shows:
- Current installed agent version
- Official release version available
- Script editor for viewing/editing agent code
Mobile
Configure mobile device management settings:
- Heartbeat Interval - How often devices send basic status updates
- Report Interval - How often devices send full reports
- Queue Check Interval - How often devices check for pending actions
Default intervals are optimised for battery life while maintaining reasonable responsiveness.
Configure email settings for notifications:
- SMTP Server - Outgoing mail server
- SMTP Port - Server port (typically 587 for TLS)
- Username/Password - SMTP authentication credentials
- From Address - Sender email address
- From Name - Sender display name
Security
Security-related settings:
- Session Timeout - How long until inactive sessions expire
- Password Policy - Requirements for administrator passwords
- Two-Factor Authentication - Enable/disable 2FA requirement
Agent Script Editor
The script editor allows viewing and modifying agent scripts:
Viewing Scripts
- Navigate to Configuration Settings > Agents
- Select the platform (Ubuntu, Arch, Fedora, macOS, Windows)
- The current script is displayed in the editor
Script Information
- Current Version - Version installed on this ZEM Cloud instance
- Official Version - Latest version available from Platform One
- Checksum - SHA256 hash for verification
Updating Scripts
If a newer official version is available:
- Review the changes in the release notes
- Click Update to Official Version
- Confirm the update
Endpoints will automatically update to the new script version on their next check-in.
Saving Changes
After making changes to any settings:
- Review your changes
- Click Save or Save Changes
- Wait for confirmation
Some changes may require endpoints to reconnect before taking effect.
Reset to Defaults
To reset settings to their default values:
- Navigate to the relevant settings section
- Click Reset to Defaults (if available)
- Confirm the reset
